The plot always engages, : it’s a 16-episode thriller. The acting is excellent. The series shows the humanity of most North Koreans (if too often portraying them as sycophantic fools). It’s also the kind of romance between a taciturn man and an energetic, moody, word-facile woman that Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn might have sparred in.

Wonderful series. Any implicit bias or conscious stereotypes of ultra-Orthodox Jews melt away in the portrayal of individual lives and of common human family and community interactions. Superb writing and acting.
