This could've been such a good movie- I'm giving it 2 for potential. If they'd made it an hour longer and had someone completely different write all the dialog and the last 45 minutes of the current film's storyline- it'd been amazing. The amount of possibilities they completely wasted is astounding. This could've been the Netflix Dune. The acting was actually good and the lineup is star studded but totally lost on this half-🍑ed plot line. Overall feeling of cringe and disappointment. Movie is 100% carried by cast and special affects. Loved seeing Sun Pak from Sense8 and a handful of GOT actors tho

For those who love zombie movies/shows how they are(ie: Dawn of the Dead, World War Z, Warm Bodies, Shaun of the Dead, Train to Busan, 28 Days Later, Zombieland, #Alive, Evil Dead- The Walking Dead<spinoff and wannabes>, All of us are Dead, Black Summer, Daybreak and Kingdom) this movie is not for you. It's a less climactic version of #Alive with a yt dude. They did it more originally and authentically with October 2020's Alone(which was the first rip-off from #Alive<released in August 2020> ). I'm honestly shocked that this is a French film- it feels 100% American with its colonization energy. They took a movie that's been done better previously and tried to pass it off as a deep retrospective original piece. It's not- it's played. I attempted to watch this movie 2 times- the first time I gave up at 25 minutes in. The second time I gave up at 45 minutes. I only gave it a 2nd chance bcs rotten tomatoes gave it an 87%. RT is so pretentious with this score- this movie was more boring than any other zombie movie I've ever seen(that is saying something). The only thing I liked that was truly original is the fact that the zombie don't make vocal noises- but being the only good thing about the movie- still wasn't enough to make me finish it. Bored to tears- the 5star reviews are not true zombie fans- don't listen. Almost all of them start off bashing "normal zombie movies" - you mean the good ones?

If you are from the 80s(born or grew up) you will love this freaking movie. People truly have no idea how loose with safety they were back then- this movie highlights that in an ironically hilarious way. The murder scenes are brutal and the nostalgia is strong. This is a movie that the teenagers and parents will enjoy together- a lot of learning and talking points to be had. Great movie to share over the holidays- if you know your teens you'll understand why

I'm rating it at one star for now because I'm really irritated with the beginning- but I'm going to come back and re-grade it when I'm done. I had to write something now to the review that said M. Night did Avatar- dude. That's freaking James Cameron. How did you even confuse that? How can you be a fan and think he wrote that movie? Don't get me wrong- I loved the first and second avatar- but no one could convince me in a million years that M. Night had anything to do with either one. Fact check before you write boo.

I really liked this movie a lot, I'm giving it 4 stars for the creep out factors in the movie. The "boyfriend" scene and all of Jake Gyllenhaal's scenes= skeeved out city, population: me. Other than that, loved it. Tilda Swinton did yet another great job portraying the weirdest character on Earth, seriously- do ppl just approach her with these rolls? "No one could do a better job at playing a cyborg with DID from Mars, call Tilda". I adore this story and the way it's told. I'm seriously thinking of going vegetarian. Not sure how I feel about meat after this movie tbh and how did a Steven yuen movie slip by me? The role is small but SO SIGNIFICANT(love you Steven) This is a strong movie that will make you uncomfortable and if it doesn't it should. There's a message in there for all consumers
