I'm not one to write a review for a movie on google like this but I do think that a lot of the reviews are unfair. I think a lot of people are underrating this movie simply because of the fact that it's not a traditional rom-com. I personally thoroughly enjoyed it because it turns the rom-com narrative around basically disregards it. So it's kind of postmodern in a sense. Instead of telling a tale about how two characters are meant to be, it tells a story where who you end up with depends largely on the circumstances you're in and how you react to them. It also critiques the tired trope of a "lover" showing up at a wedding and confessing their undying love for the object of their affection.
The critique about whether or not the jokes were funny ultimately boil down to taste. Humor is subjective. A joke that makes me laugh might make someone else giggle and another person might cringe or even get offended. If you don't find the humor to be compelling within the first 15-20 minutes just stop watching.
Also, some folks said that they didn't like the movie because the characters were not compelling enough. The main charge is that the characters did not act like "real people." The thing is, there are people in real life who are just as awkward, inept, "vanilla", and uninteresting as some of the characters in this film. So it is not totally unrealistic as some people might have you think. Of course, it's still a movie so there are some tropes here and there that you might not like but what film is perfect?
Ultimately, I think that this movie is a refreshing spin on a rom-com. I also think that its message about how "destiny" is a load of rubbish comes through pretty well. All in all, this is definitely a movie I would recommend and I would watch this again. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen!
