John's ability to speak confidently about his darkest moments, many of which us recovering addicts will find relatable, is inspiring in a way that I haven't seen from many comics who have been through recovery. He gives us enough of a peek into his struggles without seeming like he's trauma dumping or exploiting his story of addiction, while still peeling back the layers of wounds that he undoubtedly worked hard to heal. I appreciate being let into his world and him allowing us to hear about his moments vulnerability. There's a reason he had 12 people fighting for his life when he wasn't willing to. This kind of talent, sincerity and storytelling rarely comes around, he is a gem of a comic, and most importantly, a gem of a person. I wish him luck in life and his career. Absolutely 5 stars.
