I've read the books numerous times. And even before other monumental book series got adapted to screen like GOT, I was torn about WoT getting its screen green light. WoT (book) had superb and descriptive world building that you could almost see how everything looked like and I felt that it was unachievable to translate it to the screen. And while I think the amazon series fell short of this as I expected, the characters drew me in. This was another strength of the book which translated well on screen. And hopefully, this would continue on as we get to connect with the characters of the series. By 4th-5th episode, the world building design has definitely improved. Still, the cast so far was the driving force, even the minor characters. Specially Moiraine and Nynaeve. The dynamic between these two is something to look forward to, considering their relationship in the books. Keep it up!
