I notice that there is one pattern this show highlighted, which is borrowing another person's hand to either destroy their rival or gain merit. And the ministers and dukes and officials only come into the palace on their own accord or when summoned while the empress & consorts & concubines are under 24/7 strict monitoring until every step is really like threading on thin ice, which really makes is suffocating to enter the forbidden city. So for Wei Ying Luo to save herself from all the problems and rise up the ranks is a great feat.

The first 20 episodes was the build-up to the main story. It was a bit slow and a bit uninteresting because they show a weak Wei WuXian after showing his talisman abilities. But from episode 20 onwards, the show picked up the pace and the many mysteries was somehow woven together to form an intricate storyline. Thank you to the director, cast and crew for bringing to live this wonderful story.
