There was not info as to what happened, making it rely on the audience to deduce that what was purported to have happened did for scientific reasons. True this did put forth the director's liberal views. OK, the bad stuff is out of the way. Was it realistic enough and could such a world exist around Jupiter? There's enough science to support it. Could such a fragile craft make it back to K23? Probably not but the message behind this event was to point out the fragility of our future in terms we could understand. Some critics complain his movie lacked vitality. Hey ... dying cancer victims lack this. Come on, guys. I can write better reviews than this. With the liberal we have as a President now, I might need one. Would anyone give me a shot? I don't stand with the director's and lead actor's views but I do stand with his sense of honor and thought he did a great job of communicating what he feels. This movie is about what he believes and represents what he feels are the consequences we face as a race. He did a 5 at this but the movie lacked the science that Day after Tomorrow had in it. Not enough science was in this movie. Still, I wanted to be one of the first to watch it and would do so again. Mr. Clooney -- well done on the honor to gift those who supported you as you did. If I could do a small fraction for those who have stood by me in my own life, it would be a display of honor that I'll attribute to you. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, George Clooney. Not as frightening as the first but still has some scenes that will make your skin crawl. There are some good laughs and the film wasn't worth the 'first night experience' but I liked it. I mean now that I did go out of my way to see it on the 5th rather than just wait for the weekend, it wasn't worth the early shot. I'd rather have gotten the sleep I missed and seen it tonight instead. I still rate it 9.8 out of 10.

It was so disappointing to be only the 3rd person in the theater last night for such a warm story of 2 of my most favorite actors. The only downfall of the film is you have to be 60-65 or older to know who they were. Some re-release of their films earlier on might have helped to introduce the younger folks to just how hilarious and brilliant this old-fashioned, clean comedy was. This would have attracted far more people. There are many millenials that I'm sure would have warmed to this had there been some sort of intro to them. The actors John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan could not have brought these 2 back to life better. I was sure I WAS watching the real Oliver and Hardy actors. I never did know (or forgot) what had become of them. When I saw the film come up on Google at Easton, I went right over to see it. I could not recommend it more strongly.

I loved it. The combat scene dropping into France (paratroopers) was pretty damn realistic. There wasn't any John Wayne / Expendables BS, just scared kids on a C-47 done up so real flying through flak on the way to their DZ that you felt like you were a WWII Veteran. My Dad was, I wasn't. Watch it in IMAX to get the full immersion. It's great, 92% like it for a reason - it's fracking fantastic. Ms. Sewell, I think your reference that it might be perceived wrong that a black person was a hero might be playing the race card a bit strong. Don't take that the wrong way. I work hard and I know of no black man in the Air Force that could not out work me or wasn't better than I was in some aspects. So I don't have the point of view that a black man could not have been a hero in a WWII setting. Take the Red Tails for instance, I've met one of them. I know Dad would say positive things about them. I agree with the post about weapons inaccuracy to an extent. Not many people know their firearms like the post after mine. I know what an M16, a Ruger, a 45 and a 357 are. I've fired the M16 and owned a 357 with a target barrel on it, aka it is a hand held rifle and lethally accurate. This being said, the action was the point. Not every producer can be Ron Howard or Steven Spielberg and let's face it, most aren't anywhere near as detail oriented as these 2 are. Ron Howard was accurate in Apollo 13 down to the FSN (Federal Stock Number) labels on the astronaut seats in the capsule. Steven Speilberg was accurate down to the unit patches in Saving Private Ryan and of course all too accurate with Amon Goethe and the Nazis in Schindlers List. I don't know enough about firearms to be as critical as my fellow armed forces member is but respectfully, this is a horror movie. What about the accuracy of what happened to bomber and cargo aircraft and paratroopers the night before the main assault on the beaches? That was all too accurate. I say take it all into consideration and yeah, JJ Abrams and the other staff should hire a firearms consultant and keep that real too.
