One of my biggest peeves about social media & online opinion platforms is the mob mentality byproduct it has created. I wonder how many people who claim to be offended by some aspect of a tv show or movie, really feel the way they claim to feel. It seems uncool to simply say, This is a great show, well acted, interesting spin on what could have happened from one split-second decision. Or to say, "Wow, look how far we've come! Kudos to the trailblazers ". But no. People have to claim to be offended by the smoking, the gender bias, or the message it sends to our heroes. It's a freaking tv drama, not a PSA. So. If you're from the "sticks & stones" generation and want to watch a high quality well acted show, check it out. But if you feel it necessary to always have a negative "insightful" opinion about some social injustice, then don't watch. (Although you probably will ...just so you can write about all the ways you are offended.)

Really not a very good show. Wish I could say it was. I watched all 7 episodes hoping it would get better. It didn't. I also have a hard time understanding the Phoebe Waller craze. I tried to like Fleabag and couldn't get into it, either. As for Run, the actress playing Ruby is incredibly annoying. Completely overacted her part. I probably said "who talks like that" or "who would react like that" 3- 5 times per episode (The actual delivery, not the dialogue. Although it's weird, too). Her prolonged, cartoonish facial expressions were just odd. Also, 29 minute long episodes keep you from investing in this one dimensional, bore. It isn't even humorous. The only positive I can come up with is relating to the need to get away from it all. Been there. Knowing 'Run' will probably get renewed, I'm frustrated to think of the OUTSTANDING shows that only get 1 or 2 seasons that deserve a much longer run. Steven Conrad's latest two gems are at the top of that list!

This show is simply incredible. Two seasons in, I am completely invested! It is hard to pick a favorite character. I love them all. But Jeremy Strong has delivered an INCREDIBLE performance as Kendall Roy. As the show progresses you see the toll everything has taken on him, simmering below the surface. I have become transfixed by his delivery. He has really mastered his character. I dont want to reveal specifics, but powder keg comes to mind. Advertisement for season 2 was the first I heard of Succession. (and I watch a lot of HBO). I decided to give it a try, expecting to go through the formality of saying I tried but failed to get hooked. Boy was I wrong! The first episode was a rapid-fire outline of the family dynamics and general direction of the show. It was intriguing enough to watch episode 2 but didn't have me convinced 100%. Then out of nowhere, I realized I was hooked. The sharp-as-a-knife dialogue is intelligent and peppered with humor while maintaining a serious dramatic tone. But if you are sensitive to harsh language the show is probably not for you. The showrunners put together a powerhouse writing team and cast. Really top notch. The acting is impressive and character development is great. I can't wait for season 3. An extremely high bar has been set for everyone involved in this show. It will be interesting to see what they've come up with. Highly recommended!

I love this show in many ways. Great acting, intelligent, unique storyline. I rewatched Season 1 before starting season 2 and glad I did. Many intricate details to remember. But I also feel like the show has thrown way too many puzzle pieces into a pile without putting enough of them together for us to see the big picture. It's a LOT to keep straight in your brain. I like that at times, but not when it is this much work. I suppose if you are a member of MENSA or Quora you'll love it. I will keep watching for now, but the show will lose me if it gets any more convoluted than it is up to S2E4. J.K. Simmons is absolutely amazing playing these roles. Playing his other, then, playing his other playing him and vice versa.... Brilliant delivery.

If you are a fan of the show, El Camino offers up a hefty dose of nostalgia with a bit of closure. There are quite a few flashbacks, so all you're really getting are reruns scenes of past episodes that serve as filler before answering the question: What ever became of Jessie. If you've never seen Breaking Bad you will likely be lost without the back story. I admit it was fun taking the trip down memory lane. And you can never go wrong watching Aaron Paul demonstrate his top notch acting skills. But even as a BB fan, you will likely be disappointed, as this was nothing more than a bonus episode. Am I sorry I watched it? No, not really. Even a bonus episode is better than nothing. But this movie could have been so much more.

There may be many forms of comedy-- dry, slapstick, dark, etc.-- but to me there are really only two types: Natural or Forced. When The Office came out, all I heard was how hilarious the show was so I gave it a try. I didnt laugh once. Just sat there with a puzzled look on my face. Years later, thinking I must have been having a bad day, I gave it another try. Nope. Still didn't get it. I also never understood why people thought Rodney Dangerfield, Ricky Gervais or Bob Saget were funny (just to name a few). I gave Righteous Gemstones a try hoping to love it, but I didn't even make it through the 1st episode. 26 minutes in and 0 laughs later I couldn't take it anymore. (Ok..technically there was one semi-1/4 chuckle, but it barely registered.) This is forced comedy at its worst because it's dumb-forced. Not sure where all the rave reviews are coming from. Probably The Office fans. It's a definite pass for me.

People will either love it or hate it. If you think "Zoolander" or "Dumb and Dumber" are two of the funniest movies ever, then you will probably not get this humor. But if you love "The Gods Must Be Crazy" 1 and 2, (although this show is nothing like those movies except for sharing the same timing and delivery style of deadpan humor) then you will LOVE. IT. Additionally, I find it so well written and acted that I feel at times it is one of the best shows ever made. I have laughed to the point of tears. I love the little moments that may be lost to the masses if not paying close attention, like Dad explaining very seriously that John is an "intelligence" officer, then casually cutting to John after jumping from a balcony and his composure that follows. The delivery is genius! I especially loved the scene starting with John going to obtain a gun (and the accompanying song) through the train scene with the fingers. OMG I laughed so hard I had to pause the tv to compose myself! This is NOT a show you can view on a superficial level expecting a jolt of stimuli. But if you like intelligent, well written shows that you can curl up with, hone in on, and enjoy how it unfolds while laughing often...Start binging! Update: I just learned this show was cancelled and I am SHOCKED. Being one of the best shows EVER made, it serves as a prime example of execs making poor choices with what to cut and what to keep. Hopefully someone will pick this up. It is far more deserving than lesser shows that have been saved. Cut the marketing team involved, not the jewel itself.

Simon Kinberg has written some decent movies, so I'm a little confused by Dark Phoenix. The flat, cheesy dialog created this scenario in my head: He was sitting at his computer with writers block. The pre-teens were having a slumber party. "Hey! Whatcha workin' on?" Simon responds, "Oh, just another X-Men flick. But I'm stuck." The kids eagerly respond, "Can we write it for ya huh can we huh!?? Please? Pleaaaaase??" Simon nods and says, "Sure go for it." The End.
