Sui Dhaga is a well Intended, cute, Motivational yet a tad bit unrealistic movie which depicts a journey of a small town lower middle-class couple (and also their team) grabbing the big spotlight at a major fashion show wherein they win a prestigious competition. The movie starts with Varun Dhawan being shown as the bread winner of the family who has a tough time sticking to his job due to various reasons. First job he quits on the advice of his wife (Anushka). The second he quits for he wants his own designs to be sold under his own label.
This couple, desperate for money so as to cover medical expenses of Varuns parents, battle fate's twist and turns and finally destiny rewards them with a huge paycheck.
For most part of the film, the film truly feels authentic and one feels for the couple's plight in all the trials and travails thrown to them by life and one cannot help but truly connect with the protagonists.
Special mention has to be given to Anushka Sharma. Her acting in this movie truly deserves the loudest of applause. She has truly gone into the deepest depths of her character which has an absolute magical manifestation on the celluloid. This might be one of her strongest performances and goes without saying this was definitely one of the best performances of 2018.
Varun Dhawan too has acted well and generates a plethora of emotions amongst the viewers. Yet it is Anushka, playing the silent yet resilient housewife who plants the entrepreneural idea in her husband and sticks to his side in his journey, who truly rules the movie. You can't help but fall for her character. The love story which develops between these two is truly immersing.
Not to ignore the other character in supporting roles, Everyone have played their roles beautifully. A constantly nagging and discouraging father and an ailing mother deserve special praises.
It is only the last part of the movie which is unrealistic which dilutes a bit of the authenticity and reminds us that it is still a movie that we are watching. Thats the only negative of the movie.
But in all the movie truly sinks in the viewers and it becomes truly hard to take of your eyes from the screen for the major part. Just ignore rationality for the last 15 minutes of the movie otherwise,
"Sab Badiya Hai!"
