I was excited to see this series but by episode three the plot started to drag along. I like when producers and directors make the effort to ensure the selected cast embodied the story line. A number of times in the first 5 episodes everyone talks about how difficult food is to get or a sandwich being a luxury; but no one in the cast looks like they are struggling to survive and eat in a dystopian society. Why are people in this existence surprised or stunned when anyone is shot, beaten, burned or hung? Even though it’s just tv I would like some reality and sense in what I watch

A real depiction of the good and the bad would have been more digestible. This story comes across as a team of racist xenophobes gladly killing men women and children indiscriminately. Apparently no one in Iraq has a functioning brain cell according to this movie. Kyle lied about how many awards/medals he received, how many confirmed kills he had, lied about killing 30 looters after Katrina (which was never reported on the news) and about killing two robbers at a gas station (for which no evidence could ever have been found - never reported, no camera footage, no recollection of the events from anyone in that area). He was supposedly helping a mentally unwell veteran with PTSD but texted his friend while in the van saying the armed guy was nuts WHILE taking him to a shooting range. No one is perfect. Story would have been better if it showed his failings, times of dishonesty alongside his confirmed service activities.

This show is simultaneously ridiculous and angering. Holly and Sophie are both due “punishment” as much as Tom and James. Sophie’s fate should be tied directly to James’ as she knowingly lied as his alibi and Holly should be disbarred for her actions. She cannot stand in judgement when she herself is involved with a married man who was her law mentor. The unavailable line is tripe. She could have chosen to be in non-committed encounters with single men of her choosing. It is ridiculous her arrogance in saying she is the only one qualified to prosecute James. She did a horrible job at it either way. The cross examination of that woman, Olivia’s friend was horrid. She was east to dismantle based on her testimony which the supposedly too notch lawyers all ignored. It was as easy as the defense asking her “did Olivia say that she repeatedly said no? Did she say she was raped or did she only say that after you introduced the thought” This all makes the barristers look like a waste of time in the British system. James and Tom can easily get off those charges as it is a very weak case. No one has proof Tom gave Alex drugs. No one has proof James discarded or ever handled drugs. No one saw them on the roof with Alex. No one saw them leave together. Alex could easily have accidentally fell high as a kite off the edge of the roof. Sophie would obviously have to testify in this trial since she was James’ original alibi and that’s where he went after the party. James could easily dismantle this case and destroy Holly by saying who she is. This was not a well thought out plot or story structure. Sorry I watched it. I was hoping as it progressed it would get better.

I am truly surprised by the high ratings here for this show The actors are terrible and a lot of the storyline is plain stupid Why is Ryn still speaking like she just walked out of the water for the first time despite it being so long that she’s been land based living among humans? How do Ben and Maddie survive like adults? Seems they don’t really have productive lives. They both just center their existence around protecting Ryn What kind of scientists much less marine biologists have these creatures at their behest for months and never do any scans, tests, understand their biology??? There is zero on screen chemistry between Ven and Ryn. The relationship seems forced. But it may just he Ben’s horrible acting. He has got to be the most selfish character ever written into TV. Convinced Xan to say his dad was pulled overboard in the most stupid coverup ever. They wrapped the body then threw it over. They are fishermen. They should know his body could be pulled up. He let Xan’s boat burn. He didn’t want to share the recording of Ryn with Maddie AFTER he took it without telling her. More chemistry between Maddie and Ryn. Xander comes across as just plainly an idiot. The actor is horrible and the script makes him seem so immature and dumb The people in that town are either blind or living in a bubble. No search was launched for Sean’s body even though he was pulled overboard. So unrealistic. How is it that Ryn learned human speech and understood the meaning of words without ever having a real explanation of it but her people seem to have difficulty doing the same How can she be their leader and she is never in the water living among them or leading them. All so silly. Storyline and script is nonsensical at times but the show is mildly interesting.

Jeremy Sidto needs to take it down a notch to move this to 4 stars and change his singular volume of “shouting” to a normal conversational tone He is way too monotonously intense in every scene he is in, which became annoying to the ooh tog overbearing as soon as episode 3 of Season 1 The stating of the obvious seems a bit insulting to the viewer but the series is generally a good watch to pass time in isolation during a pandemic.

This show has potential to be great but has some nuances I could not overlook to continue watching. Derek calling Garcia “babyGirl” and “Moma” is not endearing but annoying for a grown man to call a grown woman in the workplace on the job. If they are close friends leave that for off hours. It is borderline disrespectful. He says it so frequently that it became extremely irritating. As disrespectful as it is annoying that she goes into lengthy explanations (which are obviously for an audience they think isn’t smart enough to deduce anything) which are unrealistic. In the field agents require the what not the how. These two points were dominant enough that I could not look at all seasons.

Keifer Sutherland was the wrong choice for the lead role in this show. His voice is eternally apologetic. His consistent gravelled whisper is annoying and distracting. The writers apparently could not decide on whether he was to be portrayed as passive, emotional, uncertain and “just” or ruthless, direct and analytic. They flitted between the two extremes, instead of developing the character from the former to the latter as he settled into the role. So many things were neglected in this show because they quickly went downhill after episode 3 of season 1 to instead focus on thrashing out the litany of cliché issues. He was touted as independent and bipartisan but I suspect but this was to lure a certain demographic into the show. It was plainly obvious that the framework of the show is anti-right. So many unrealistic elements from the get go. They took both his and his wife’s phones immediately after the explosion but left their teenage son with his unchecked, insecure phone. The capitol was bombed killing the entire government and they never took him to the bunker instead just moving him and his family in to freely roam the White House. Don’t get me started on this FBI agent who is apparently the single person in the agency who questions the obvious. She is also unhealthily thin, punching a bag that never budges. They also seemed pretty unconcerned that the government was being run without a Vice President for so long Just the tip of the iceberg of problems this show presented. Waste of a story with excellent potential for development of the story line

I like the visuals of this show. Accuracy aside, it is a fantasy fictional romance. It does seem rushed however. They could have made it a 10 or 12 episode season and given enough time to better develop the characters and their storylines. The on screen dynamic between Simon and Daphne is without a question excellent casting. She is not a strong actress but does this role well enough. How could Anthony think he had to find Daphne a husband after only one ball and three days with no visitors? She’s beautiful and has a suitably affluent family name behind her. Did Anthony truly think his relationship with Si was in any way sustainable. He seems to be the most stupid asinine person on the series thus far. Does The featherington housekeeper keep track of all the women’s “courses” to realize Marina was pregnant. Marina was only there for what seemed to be two weeks when she came to that realization. If they had stuck to the verbiage and story development as written in The Duke and I, the first season would have been 5 star. The Duke’s father looks nothing like him. Cressida’s threat to Daphne was absolutely pointless. Nigel’s character was made unnecessarily unlikeable. They should have stuck with his portrayal from the book. All of Daphne’s dresses look the same. They should have progressed her look from single debutante to married woman. But again the show didn’t allow enough time for development. Great potential though

While I love House and think Hugh Laurie was the ideal person to play this role there are some peeves I have with this show. The show is well written. The first time I watched this series I dislike Cameron’s holier than thou hypocritical character. The second time I watched the series I just plain disliked everything about her. She uses her sexuality conveniently while also complaining that she is being treated unfairly because she is a woman. She thinks Foreman should be off a case because he dislikes policemen although her own clouded judgement leads her to repeatedly make bad calls, not tell people they are dying and make moral judgements that she is usually wrong about because of her idealistic wishes for the world. Foreman tries to have House’s arrogance without House’s intelligence level and without his ability to make his arrogance and personality endearing. The other peeve is - from the very first episode of the series the claim was that House doesn’t speak to patients or their families. People express shock when he leaves to go do exactly that. However every single episode from the first one, he has spoken and met with every single patient and their family Member(s) in every case every week. The best way to make us believe he hates talking to patients and that the accuracy of the data Trumps people’s lies, is to actually depict him not talking to them But despite these things I absolutely love the show enough to tolerate Foreman and Cameron
