Season 2 matched up to Season 1 equally, if not more. It is very refreshing to see an empowering black cast on the screen. A much needed fresh breath of air from the other CW superhero shows, as it delves into deeper problems such as racism, and shows more character development.
Something which really catches my eye, is this show focuses heavily on its characters, and their development. In my opinion, that is why it's one of the best shows. Majority of shows now, whilst yes they do focus on character development, they often tend to stray away from the reality of things. The youngest daughter Jennifer Pierce, portrayed by an excellent China Anne McClain, is portrayed amazingly and much more realistically than other shows. She excellently portrays the many qualities of a teenager, and how much their emotions impact them such as irrationalism, anger, confusion, and so much more.
The older daughter, Anissa Pierce, portrayed by yet another amazing actor, Nafessa Williams, portrays the two sides of heroism. The bad sides, and the good sides.
The showrunners definitely know what they're doing, and so far majority are loving it.
The only criticism I can try to give is how the storyline is barely seen, and often the show focuses too much on its characterisation. The big storyline reveal only really occurs in the finale, and the final long-awaited battle wasn't as big as the audience was hyped up for, yet still amazing.
Besides that, Black Lightning is an amazing show which will definitely appeal to many audience's tastes. Very excited to see where season 3 will take us.
