I will say that I enjoyed this book almost the whole way through--except at the very end when the moral is revealed. Without spoiling too much, the message of Life of Pi is "Being religious is better than being non-religious because religious stories are more comforting than cold existentialism--even when those stories may be outright lies." For the record, that last part about "outright lies" is given in context of the book (not my personal opinion). My opinion is, however, that this is a particularly gross reason to choose faith over evidence.
