This is not really my kind of show, but it hooked me and hooked me quick. It is very stylish. Love the ties, suits, dresses, furnishings, everything. It is well written, clever and not so gory that I can't watch it. The guy who plays Hannibal is really good. The guy who plays Will Graham gets off to a shaky start but really starts to get intense towards the end of season 2 and is doing some great acting by season 3. Laurence Fishbourne is good at being Laurence Fishborne. Surprise! Scott Thompson from Kid in the Hall in almost every episode for the first 1.5 seasons. Nice touch. But what really knocks me for a loop about this show, is Gillian Anderson. I have never seen her in anything, I know she did a show about aliens/conspiracy that was kind of campy, but holy christ does she steal every scene she is in. She is fantastic.She looks great. She looks amazing. She has to be like 60 and she looks like a glowing 42 year old. It can't all be make up. She is probably the most interesting character in the show. Good stuff.

I'm not a big Jim Carey fan, but he nails this character. I don't use the word brilliant very often, but it applies here. All the actors are wonderful. It is so darkly funny and so deeply sad, with a wonderful ending. I've binged watched just about everything on HBO, Showtime and Netflix in the last few weeks and "Kidding" stands out as the most interesting, funny and enjoyable. It really pushed the boundaries of what a 1/2 hour dramedy could be. I don't know if it was nominated for any awards, but it sure deserves them. Thank you Jim Carey et all.. for a magic viewing experience.

I really enjoyed season 1 and was delighted to see a 2nd season on Netflix. I hate to agree with the other reviewers who were put off with the not just lewd, but really crude dialogue this season, but I felt their pain. The only saving grace was Amelia and how she navigates through it all seemingly unscathed. For someone with such strong comedic chops, Andrea Savage always seems to find an opportunity to show off her toned body in almost every episode, which is fine, it's her show and her ego, she can do whatever she wants. I just think it's a shame that she can't tone it down from an X to an R rating.

I would gladly give this show five stars, except there is way too much logistical impossibilities to suspend the disbelief necessary to really get involved. Other than that I think it is an awesome series. I'm not one for a lot of middle eastern dialogue and subtitles but the show makes up for it at least once or twice an episode with ingenious writing and actor portrayals that make it very enjoyable to watch. Again, this is not my kind of show, but I was glued to the tablet and am really bummed I have to wait a year for season two. It's not perfect, or anywhere near believable, but it is definitely original.

I like period pieces. I like crime dramas. I don't like revisionist history though. Can't stand it. I think there are millions of young people of color who's only exposure to Malcom X is going to be this show and that's a tragedy. Malcom X was one of the most important figures of the 20th century and now he is relegated to playing second fiddle to Bumpy Johnson? Please. I watched the whole series and I tried to flip off the "reality" switch, but it was only made harder by the modern hip hop or dare I say gangser rap soundtrack that permeates the show. It doesn't make any sense. The producers and director are doing a disservice to the civil rights struggle of that, and all time. I like the name actors of this show, but they aught to be ashamed to have taken a payday for this FAKE history.

How a show can border on comic book corniness and still deal with extreme violence and very adult sexual themes I don't know. But it works. I'm not hooked on it or anything, but I will watch the entire season and season two when it comes out. If you took the whole Batman prequel out of the equation, it would stand on it's own as a (corny) show worth watching. One thing that disturbs me though (spoiler alert) is the character of Martha (don't know her last name) not only has a passionate kiss with the engaged Alfred, after a violent evening, but is also debauched by the Allister Crowley Cult while working together with Thomas Wayne. Assuming she is "the" Martha, that's pretty weird. Or at least awkward for the future occupants of Wayne Manor. One would think that Thomas Wayne's wife would be a chaste and feminine lady of society, not a hard core trouble shooter for some corporate or benevolent type interest. Other than that, I like it. I wouldn't let my kids watch it, but I like it.

I was disappointed. Everybody did a great job acting but the revisionist ending was goofy. It is a fairy tale though, as it says in the title...once upon a time..Oddly, as unimpressed with the film as I was, I think I will pay another $2 bucks at the redbox to watch it again. It's not a masterpiece, but it had it's moments.
