I’m a big fan of British drama but Bancroft is second-rate, cliched with borrowed story lines, corny script and, at times, ridiculous plot. Bancroft's character is annoying, but not so much as that of her son Joe and girlfriend Annabelle: watching them in season two is like having root canal therapy. It’s a shame because I quite like Adrian Edmondson who plays the honest cop.

OK, I didn't watch episodes 1 & 2, I came in half way through episode 3, and I thought it was Neighbours or Home and Away or some other corny soap opera. From what I saw, I'm certainly not inclined to go back to the start to give it a fair shake. It's a shame because it's an important subject. Mind you, Auntie made The Heights too which was another pointless soapy. Is all this because the Libs have cut ABC funding to the bone or does someone at the top think the ABC needs to emulate the toilet that commercial television has become in Australia?

Project Blue Book is really bad. It contains every corny American plot cliche you can think of. The show is set in the 50s and the script at times gets as bad as some of the B-grade sci-fi movies made in that era. It's the usual thing about the government trying to hide the truth from the people in case they panic and a bunch of gung-ho soldiers wanting to kill everything they don't understand. I didn't mind Aiden Gillen in the lead role (and the retro cars) but that's about it. It's a shame because the UFO thing that's supposed to have happened back then is an interesting subject that deserves better treatment than it gets in this show. A documentary looking at the actual evidence would have been better really. But ask yourself, if a race of super advanced 'aliens' did visit us in the 50s or 60s what did they actually do? Where are they now? I don't see the human race enslaved by creatures from outer space do you? Personally, I believed in UFOs until I was about 14 - then I grew up.
