One of Rudyard Kipling's best written stories, told by a newly-built American steam locomotive, .007, telling the reader about his life as a brand new just built steam engine as if it was human. Discovered this story in a collection of short stories, all concerning railways in 1957 called "Fifteen On" If you love steam locos and railways you will love this story. Kipling's knowledge of railways and history of steam engines is fantastic. Think Rev W Awdry's stories about Thomas the Tank Engine written by Shakespeare!
Don't know if any locomotive has ever been numbered .007 though.
