Bill

A story told with way too much embellishment in this film. The cast does great with what they have, there's no denying that. Edward Zwick had some hits in the past but he's always been heavyhanded with the melodramatics and it's very prevalent here. I wish this movie was played just a little more neutrally because it is a great case to make a movie about but it really loses me with how much the drama and one-sidedness are played up. Let the casefiles speak for themselves and let it be more ambiguous. I almost felt like Ponch was a fever dream the MC was having.

Overacted, overly dramatic, and poorly written. Sometimes the ridiculousness of the characters and plot reach levels of hilarity. Definitely has dipped in what little quality it had over the years.
