The 1994 version, makes you love and loathe the characters.and it builds, showing the pandemic in devastating fashion. Then builds characters, by showing their separate journeys to find mother abigail, as of course the book does. Also it shows Randal flag, finding and moulding his followers perfectly. This version just does not bother with any of this, at all. Taking just over an episode, to find mother abigail, and 8 episodes padded out for everything else. Enjoyed watching skarsgard and James marsden as per usual, but most of the others where instantly forgettable, although this was not all their fault.a lot more character building was needed early on. Pity, I waited a long time to see it, for nothing. going to get out the old version now and watch that.
