Left the show with Season 4 after binge watching first 4 within a week. The show started great, but the forced loved triangle ruined it. For Elena, Stefen was the only choice, there's no debate about it.
Damon was only possible if the showrunner was indirectly promoting eve-teasing, normalising mental torture, sadistic enough to let go all the sacrifice of Stefen, who did it to save Damon and the writer hands over the girl to Damon. What could have been a class in itself ended up as a garbage and total waste of time.
