I’ve watched up to episode six and this is a brilliant show. I was never a real fan of the film but am a fan of labyrinth and Jim Henson creatures, and this brings the nostalgia of the 80s fantasy genre to a whole new level without losing any of the original charm of the puppetry. I was sceptical about watching it at first but by the first episode I was hooked. The longer length episodic version tells the story at a pace slower than the film where the world of Thra can be really appreciated in full. Creatures in the background and attention to detail of the surroundings bring a depth to the show that is truly magical and allows you to be fully immersed in the lives of the characters. As well as some laugh out loud moments the story telling is superb and the characters wonderful. For anyone who is unsure of this show, give it a chance, and if you are an 80’s child like me then you will love this with a sense of nostalgia for the puppet fantasy genre that has not been this good for over three decades!
