A more realistic 2001 a space Odyssey without the monolith. Very psychological exploration not only of space but also between a man and his father that abandoned him. Gritty and realistic. I was warned before watching that I would hate it, but that let me focus on the background story and special effects which were very well done! This is a thinking mans movie. I recommend you watch it at least once. It's not Star Wars or Star Trek.
