While Mary Kay Place’s performance allowed me to sit all the way through this film, she struggles to keep this train wreck on the tracks. The editing I’m sure at the encouragement of the director, because that’s how it happens, is tragically bad. What a story telling mess of an already complex character. Music cues randomly start and stop, and wander with meaningless intent and flat performance. Ridiculously long dissolves into extended useless handheld shots of POV driving sequences do nothing to advance the story or character arcs. Then suddenly she’s years older and uhh dead? What a mess. 2hrs of my life I can’t get back.
