I thought this movie was fun, it kept me entertained all the way through. I went into it expecting exactly what what I got.

Unfortunate, if you’ve read the source material, you know what I mean. I’m tired of all these simple, greedy, talentless Hollywood hacks getting their hands all over the stories I cherish.

The direction and feel of this movie is phenomenal, I think this story would have been difficult to translate to film without it seeming ridiculous and silly, but Xavier Gens pulled it off fantastically. I can’t say I’ve seen anything quite like it, and I hate that it is compared to Shape of Water, which is another great film, but in my opinion that is where the comparison ends. This is a unique story, told and acted masterfully, I felt the cold and isolation of the beautiful setting, and felt as though the effects and makeup were done in a way that the actors still conveyed emotion extremely well, which is hardly ever the case in creature movies anymore. This has the style and heart of the classic monster movies where the actors made them come alive instead of trying to make a sophisticated cartoon convey emotion. I very much anticipate the director’s future endeavors.

Derivative garbage. The Innkeepers tries to be a classic ghost story, and fails horribly, lacking any charm or luster. Very poorly written and directed, there are so many instances when the camera goes in and out of focus. It’s pretty rare that I watch a movie and feel embarrassed for the film makers, but this is a turd wrapped in a bow. Don’t waste your time, or skip to the last ten minutes, that’s when anything ever happens, and even the is just blah. This movie is to movies what Lenny Kravitz is to songwriting….complete failure.

An absolute turd. Time you’ll never get back.

I thought it was pretty great, if a bit overt in its message, which, it pains me to see how few picked up on, or are maybe just too blissfully ignorant and irrationally defensive of anything the questions their ideals. It’s not meant to be taken seriously, it’s a movie, made for the purpose of entertainment. I would go so far as to call it a comedy/horror…sorry to see that so few people have any idea what satire is any more…..if you want to see something really scary put on Joyce Meyers on a Sunday morning….that is terrifying. I guess certain people don’t like it when you make fun of TV or social media, the two things that tell them what to think.

Too bad, I liked the first one…for what it was, but the replacement actress in the second was utterly unwatchable. I couldn’t make it past the first 10 minutes, then I saw she was in the third one, so I won’t be checking that out either.

The best horror/action film I never saw….the costumes were ok.

Wow, what a great movie, very dark and difficult to digest, such great writing devices, the research that went into this film payed off in spades. The two actors were outstanding, and the director, using very little and in a short time gave us something truly beautiful and terrifying at the same time. I am truly excited I discovered this movie, to me it is an epic, and a powerful portrait of loss, rage, and forgiveness, and while it is a very dark story, the payoff was a marvel to behold.

Excellent revenge tale, suspension of disbelief is a key going into this movie, just like any…it’s a story, that’s what movies are. And it’s over the top, stylish, sexy and well acted. The payoff is the satisfaction of the villain getting what’s coming to him, and our two tortured protagonists taking their lives back from a monster. I thought it was great fun.
