I am incredibly skeptical of movies and try to deliver an honest review. I thought this film was GREAT. The humanity in it made me cry 5 times, and I don't cry during a lot of movies. It may have seemed like a lot of confusion and running around for some, but I found that to be very realistic. This is what the end of days will look like. People desperately trying to do their best to survive and protect their families at any cost.
The only reason I give it 4 stars is for the Type 1 Diabetic accuracy. I, myself, have type 1 so I'm very attentive to the detail movies put into it when they have a T1D character. I was pretty excited to see a character have T1D, but I always hate it when movies assume that when a T1D's blood sugar gets low, they need insulin. That drives me crazy. That would literally kill a T1D. We need insulin if we get a high blood sugar or before we eat. Also small amounts throughout the day to keep our levels steady on a pump. But it showed the child bolus for popcorn, and he didn't eat any. Then his sugar was low, and pump was out of insulin. But then she panicked to find more insulin. GIRL GIVE HIM SUGAR. Also, he maybe only had 4 months of insulin by the time they were in the bunker. How did he survive? Those bunkers wouldn't take the sick because they couldn't care for them. That bunker wouldn't have had insulin to last 9 months. They had meds, yes, but not diabetic meds.
That was my only complaint, but overall, very well done movie. The acting was great, the cinematics were great, and it was very good overall. I would have even been okay if the movie had ended with the montages at the end because then that'd would mean they truly did see their lives flash before their eyes before they died, but I understand that ending would've been much more depressing. But, I wouldn't have been mad. It still would've been a good end to the movie, but I feel it would've upset a majority of the audience too much.
