The entire film was lacking from the plot to the villains to the jokes and sadly to Wonder Woman herself. There was no true reason this film was set in 1984 other than to take older generations on a nostalgic trip. It made no use of anything else defining to the era to drive the plot forward. I don't know where the director went wrong since she gave us such a stellar first film. Kristen Wiig was given no fully thought out character, they just told her to recreate one of her SNL sits and I'm so sad to report Pedro Pascal was underutilized (he's such a fantastic actor, why?!). I'm still scratching my head to comprehend the Steve situation. So his consciousness was placed into a random stranger and so Diana can see him as he "really" is while the rest of the world views him as said stranger? For a 2hr and 30min film, they made no effort to explain a lot of the plot holes. That time is instead used to display poor attempts and character improv and no action whatsoever. Those looking for a taste of the first film may as well just watch the opening Amazonian games sequence and quit thereafter. As a superhero film lover, wanted to love this movie but unfortunately there was so little to love.
