The book to movie adaptation was horrid. I was so excited to learn that there was a Percy Jackson movie and was anxious to watch it but regretted it when I did. Not only did it not follow the books at all, but it also doesn't even work as a stand-alone movie. Many parts don't make sense, are confusing and are completely wrong in mythology. I hate to call anything bad because of the amount of work people put into it, but this could just not be excused. Rick Riordan himself (author of the PJO series) said that the movies were not well planned, acted or made. The sheer fact that the characters were all aged up takes away from the original books, and the cut and dry acting was sad, considering what could have been. I believe the actors did the best with what they were given and hopefully, the sequel will redeem it at least a bit. If not, I can only hope for a new project to be made in its place, one where Rick Riordan gets a say in what happens.
