I’m a long time fan of all things Sherlock, and I know I’m not the target demographic for this film as a 54yo white male.
For the writing and story, I'm not a fan of the treatment Mycroft gets, Doyle wrote his character as at least as or possibly more intelligent than his younger brother, but in this film he’s portrayed as dupable and callous.
The films entire theme is very "female empowerment", which I do believe the world could use some more of, but it seemed heavy handed to me. I’m sure the younger generation will see it differently than I do.
That said Millie does an excellent job, as does the entire cast, it's fun to see her break the fourth wall, and I really enjoyed that she was written as a genius level calculating intellect that still manages to maintain her human imperfections.
That girl is going places. I’m becoming quite the cheerleader of Ms. Brown.
