I know this will get lost in the absolute Mariana Trench of reviews for this series, especially in the coming weeks as more and more people start or finish the series. I still feel compelled to drop my opinion onto this.
I had no expectations for this show to even do remotely well. I honestly when first hearing of it remember thinking to myself “Wow is that going to be a hard watch.” Historically any video game adaptation is generally a slug to get through and your feelings towards it generally will have to do with how many hours you divulge into the game itself regardless of the content the show or movie produces. The worst adaptation still has die hard supporters due to the unwillingness to admit that something they love sucks.
There will be no issue with that from fans of League of Legends. Nor will that be a problem of those who have never even heard of the game despite how hard that may be today. This show is a masterpiece regardless of your level of fascination with the game or of animated series. An all around performance from voice acting to incredible animation to an incredibly provocative plot line that honestly should leave most people wondering “How could Riot have possibly done this? And why wasn’t it done sooner?” The elements that play together seem effortless. The character interactions have meaning and they are executed with veracity when prompted and love when necessary. There’s depth that you would not expect from any production, none-the-less a game developer.
If anyone happens to read this, this 8-ish hours you will spend watching this will absolutely be worth your time. I can not wait for the next 30 seasons of this series and look forward to learning more of these great characters.
