Caught this movie on Amazon last night.
I have to be honest: I seldom watch Christian-produced films. They are typically schmaltzy and poorly-written. In my experience, the 10 I have to wade through for each good ones is not worth the trouble. But the ads for this one caught my eye - and the backstory (produced by a former foster kid; all proceeds go to a foster care ministry) compelled me. I was more than pleasantly surprised.
A young Christian "embedded" reporter returns from the Middle East to a broken marriage and some measure of PTSD. He calls out to God for help - and is surprised to find that God responds by offering him a series of interviews. He asks the tough philosophical questions, and the tough personal questions as well. And God answers.
Writing the role of God is always tough (unless you are God), but this movie avoids the most egregious errors (It's not "Oh, God" with George Burns). Theologians looking to critique need not apply (especially not Hyper-Calvinists), but the movie is thoughtful, compelling, and moving.
Strongly recommended to anyone in the faith, or searching - or anyone else who just wants to think about God and this world.
