Wow, I’m not swooning over this show like most reviewers. I love the music, all of it, scenery is gorgeous, a character all its own. It’s the writing I find frustrating, too many plot lines introduced that go nowhere: dead reporter, family animosities that are muddled and never explained, a father who is relentless in exerting his will on children who try to please him and either die or commit a crime, a daughter with major serious daddy issues that still aren’t explained, Dutton’s dalliance with the Governor: for callous leverage, sex, what? How about more background on that relationship. How about Dutton admitting he’d never have Tate in his life if Kayce had buckled and forced Monica to have an abortion? And can anyone explain Teeter and the need for another foul-mouthed addition to the bunkhouse? I think Longmire is a better series, less star power but many of the same issues find better resolutions. I’ll keep watching Yellow stone but really hope the writing tightens up, the actors deserve it.
