I hate to say it, but i feel RE3 Remake is horribly disappointing. Sad because I really love this series. The intro was nice, however I feel the game became very linear with almost no exploration when compared to the original game. There were practically no puzzles, which Resi is known for. Many parts from the original were cut out entirely, The park, The cemetery, and The clocktower, and a lot of the lab was cut too, which could have been okay if they had replaced them with something else or did betted with updating what they had.
Also, Nemisis is far less intimidating in this than he was in the original and he's supposed to be scarier than Mr X. A lot of the tension is lost in the remake because all of his appearances feel scripted. The Mr X in RE2 Remake had tension because you can hear his footsteps. He is literally moving around the map. They should have done that with Nemisis as well. I will say that I do like the new Carlos and that putting him in the RPD instead of Jill flushes his character out more and makes the player care about who he is, which is somefhing I feel the original lacked.
There are some gameplay mechanics that they should have used more. You see the Demios (sp?) For all of 5 minutes in the power station only to never see them again, and the new parasite feature was interesting. Too bad you never see them again. I feel like there should have been a mutation between the first Nemisis form and the 2nd one. It makes the boss battles feel, well they are recycled. You have to do the exact same thing for both and that's just boring.
RE2 Remake had a lot of thought and care put into it and I don't see that in 3 at all. SHAME on Capcom for this. I would have rather waited longer to get a better game. It's obvious that they saw the success of 2 and rushed to pump out 3 to make more money. In my opinion this gams is nkt worth the price. I would peg it at 15 maybe 20 bucks.
This scares me for the next Resi to come out because I don't know what to expect. 3 was going to sell well because they did an excellent job with 2, so judging by sales 3 is also a success. But a lot of fans are going to be disappointed with 3. So the question is will Capcom listen to what the players demand of a Resi or will they go based on numbers and produce something in the same vein as 3?
I know that because of 3 I for one will probably not buy the next one at full price.
