A well researched book on the Australian and New Zealand POWs in Italy during WW2. It holds many stories from these men as they made their escapee towards freedom following the Italian armistice and gives a better insight into what our fathers/grandfathers may have gone through as a POW. The struggles they endured and the incredible help they received in the way of food and shelter from the local Italian people along their journey. Some made it to freedom, some joined the Partisans and others only to be recaptured by the Fascists and sent to German POW camps as was my Dad.
