This book tried to do way too much.
It was impressive and novel to see all of the things that were predicted 25+ years into the future …but I was left with a lot to be desired
(Side note: strange that this was supposedly a mandatory read for all Facebook employees years ago in preparation for the creation of the “Metaverse” a term that this booked coined , especially considering this was absolutely a dystopian story” and not some happy feel-good story)
Too many plot lines, attempting to tackle too many topics, and curious character choices. My head was spinning with the introduction of character after character … in retrospect, the list of characters could have been cut in half.
Also, one of the WORST endings I’ve ever read.
But ultimately, this book gets a better grade than it probably should (C-) since it was tackling such new ideas in 1992, where these concepts were brand new.
