i would argue that bumblebee its a softer transformers film and is centered around charlies bond with bumblebee though i like that its a prequel going back to the 80s. i still feel that Michael bays films explain the story better because one thing i noticed watching bumblebee is that it has a lot of plot holes such as how was optimus prime on earth because in transformers being set 20 years after the events of bumblebee optimus and the autobots had only just arrived on earth after bumblebee sent an autobot beacon into the sky, where the hell was megatron the whole time i mean i know he was frozen under hoover dam but they could've showed us that and if you were really trying to show bumblebees origins then why not show us more of him on cybertron. plus i must mention ive never heard of a decepticon named shatter she must be a new character to the universe though i know about triple changers they were in gen 1. also a decepticon seeker named blitzwing did not rip out bees voice box megatron ripped it out during an interrogation back on cybertron. by the way autobots run on energon not electricity so you couldn't just zap'em back to life it really doesn't work like that you would need to patch him up and make sure he has enough energon flowing through him. but you also cant help but notice that the films are actually slightly different because in bumblebee there was no megatron or at the credits there being some talk about the all spark because thats what the first film is centered around so i doesn't fit in well story wise so yeah the series was messy as it is but Travis knight making a bumblebee film is a bit pointless especially since transformers 7 is due to come out next year. Putting the film back to generation 1 will obviously impress a lot of transformers fans, but i myself prefer the Michael bay designs in some circumstances because they actually look more like an advanced race of technological alien robots. so yeah overall i give the film a 5 out of 10 mostly for the designs but one thing i cant help but say is why the hell would you want john cena in this film i mean hes an alright actor but why put him in a kids film. i mean hes the type of actor that would do well in more serious adult films where as hailee steinfeld with her lovable
personality would be the kind of actor to star in this film. except steinfelds performance was top notch she basically nailed the role. though this i would say is more like the iron giant (except bumblebee is much smaller). though films like age of extinction and the last knight just disappointed me because in age of extinction (tf4) there isn't really any decepticons, though it does introduce us to the dinobots and in the last knight (tf5) the story was so off e.g. bumblebee fought in ww2 in the last knight and he arrived on earth in 1987 in bumblebee. also there was barely any optimus prime in the film so yeah aside from all of this bumblebee could've done better with plot. i mean i doubt that Michael bay was even involved in this because all though he acts as a producer he would still have made his mark in the film like at least more actions scenes would've been better. though i wont lie having a different director would've been better because not only does Michael bay get a break from making the films, but being able to see what direction other directors would've taken the franchise is really cool. because obviously we're used to Michael bays era big alien robots constantly fighting with a lot of explosions and the transformers designs themselves being different to their former ones. though in bumblebee the robots appear to be using judo like moves which is quite cool so yeah i recommend you watch bumblebee the film is still quite good though a warning to true transformers fans you'll definitely be disappointed with the plot of the film. though i do not blame Travis for all the errors made in this film. its his first live action film. also some scenes i felt were just redundant e.g. cliff side diving scene. so yeah overall not too bad.
