Although very early in his career and therefore more stage trained, ex: Lion In Winter, O’Toole has a charisma and focused intention behind his portrayal that is potent. I have rarely see this historical character so compelling and conflicted, passionate and intentional. It’s easy to see and imagine the conflict between these two historical characters. The writing is 5/5. Set and design, great. It remains a classic historical drama that is top 10.
