I love old movies. 1950 is usually my limit but Richard Basehart is one of my favorites. I especially enjoyed Mary Murphy's performance. Thanks for airing these good old movies. They never had a bedroom scene or a filthy word or reference to God in the film. They depended on their acting ability. Shockaroo.

I found this film quite by accident. Now, in June, 2020, this movie takes on a life that Americans had probably thought a dead issue. Instead, we in America are facing the same problems this movie brings out within our own country. Americans are losing their rights, many are giving them over willingly. There is a pervasive force threatening us and the God that many of us know. I have never seen such realistic acting. Everyone in the film was very good but Helen Hayes was remarkable. What an actress. She brought home to the viewer the intense urgency we should feel as patriots of the greatest country the World has ever known...the United States of America. I feel led to add that the "critics" missed the meaning of this production by a mile if they rendered any opinion but one of thanks for this movie.

It made me cry at the end. The airwaves are our best tool to reach America before God comes back for us. I am so encouraged by scripts such as these. Well acted. Makes it's point clearly. Hats off to the writers, director, producers, actors and our God for putting this vehicle in motion.

I am so sorry to throw cold water on this but I stuck it out because of the cast. A lot of watching people pick cotton but the very last scene, in the church, where everyone is taking communion. What was that all about? I missed something. There were the characters who were left alive and there, and then the dead husband, alive, and Glover, who had to leave because of the KKK. It just didn't fit. I wanted some sort of an ending. Yes, love, yes, forgiveness but I thought they probably didn't have an ending so they just threw this in........this is why I don't bother much with many movies made after 1950.
