It's an excellent film, in as much as it has all the elements needed to make one, however, it has those elements woven in such a way as to project a gloomy view of the future for planet earth. The most superb aspects of the film are the relationships portrayed on the screen.
Showing only the efforts carried out in the US to deal with ineffective leadership in Washington, DC., in dealing with the consequences of Global Climate Change, at the end it infers that there are several orbiting space stations of the kind visualized on the screen, and implies that other nations have failed in their efforts to co-create options to Global Climate Change. The film depicts a dreamy fantasy, but is pessimistic.
The premise of the film, albeit one which is humane and provocative, is one where it also ignores the fact that there is just one opportunity for all of humanity to collectively co-create solutions to Global Climate Change, and that is now, regardless of how nice it would be to pretend future probable selves may save our collective "behinds" after the fact, after the demise of planet earth has taken place, or after it has become unlivable for all.
The film ignores the affirmative changes happening all across the globe and the billions being spent collectively by numerous nations, corporations and people. And, you know what they say: If we can't properly care for this planet and succeed here, and, instead fail by wasting this planet, where do you expect us to go, where that is not going to happen again?
This review is probably meaningless to most, because it is comparing this movie to real world events and occurrences, and is not based on the fact this movie is an unreal vision and idea of those who were involved in co-creating this amazing fantasy.
