The brutal reviews of this refreshing take on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical are disheartening. I saw Cats today and was moved to misty-eyedness as it brought back fond memories of having seen the stage play in Los Angeles when I was a teenager. The dancing, elaborate costumes, and overall over-the-topness of some of the musical sequences are spectacular and awe-inspiring. A star-studded cast is another draw (including names like Dame Judi Dench, Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, and the debut of lithe ballerina Francesca Hayward). A must-see for cat lovers, musical aficionados and movie-goers seeking a cathartic film experience!
