Great Noir but the beginning is misleading since the elapsed time b/w the four shots fired and the car being driven away (by Veda?) is far too short to allow Mildred to come back into the beach house and have the interchange with her daughter and the daughter pack a suitcase to leave for the airport to make a getaway. It was great to see Veda Ann Borg again, even if in such a small part. Eve Arden was superb as was Jack Carson and Bruce Bennett. Zachary Scott makes a living at being the disgusting one in films - wonder what he was like in real life! One of Joan Crawford's most demanding roles.
