Am I the only one who grew up reading the books, loved the movie, and didn't enjoy the series at all? The entire thing felt like I was watching a parody, the acting wasn't clever, it was ridiculous. Of course maybe it was because I loved every part of the movie so much that it made me dislike everything they changed in the series, but I honestly think everything done in the movies was what made it a gem. They took away what made A Series of Unfortunate Events a dark comedy for preteens-adults and turned it into a kids show. Obviously the acting for a series and a movie will be different, but I think every single actor in the movie did a better job portraying the characters from the books than each and every actor in the series. The series doesn't evoke a single emotion, especially with that deadpan narration.
