Watched this after all the hoopla about it died. It was nice to see how they seem so in love with each other in first episodes. But later, my goodness their complete self-absorption is astounding! They do not see any point of view except their own. It’s always a case of how others impact them. Never how they affect others (like Prince Phillip in his dying days as Meghan accuse his family of racism on Oprah show - yes she did!). Yes I can see that the British press is brutal against royal brides - Diana, Fergie, Kate and Meghan. Brutal not necessarily all racist. From the outside looking in, why do H&M think M is so special to be above all that??? They both chose to be part of that after all.

I never heard of The Witcher books or game video and only watched to see how Henry Cavill fares in a different role. And I finished all episodes in one sitting. Yes the different storylines were confusing but in the end that became one of the most interesting if not the most interesting piece of this show. The episodes were so well made and the Witcher makes a compelling character that yes I eagerly waited to see what’s his next task or adventure was. Yennefer’s story was confusing but never boring and the confusion and trying to figure out what the heck was going as their 3 storylines unfolded (W, Y and Ciri) is in the end the most fun part of watching The Witcher. As for comparisons with LoTR and GoT: I am a big fan of LoTR books and movies and while I would often see references to LoTR in many other movies, I didn’t see any in The Witcher. I detested the vile books of GoT and even more so the comparison of George Martin with JRR Tolkien (one is clearly bent on commercializing brutal politics while the other teaches the pain, sacrifice and wonder and fulfillment of being part of something greater than the self). So I never watched GoT. But I think it is enough to say, because of and despite Geralt of Rivia’s simplistic worldview (not getting involved in politics and focusing only on the task - of killing a monster - at hand) his inadvertent adventures or dare I say destiny makes The Witcher stand on its own.
