If you could bottle and sell pure joy its name would be the Barbie movie, I have always admired GW ever since I watched Francis Ha believing that every film she writes whether with her writing partner Noah or alone is a cinematic masterpiece. Even the films she acts in have a warmth to them and are a pure delight she is a true original, I really hope this film gives her the recognition and exposure she deserves Barbie is exactly what we all need in the current climate - pure escapism.

Having been a fan of writer director Greta Gerwig there was no question of me not seeing ladybird it became my film of 2017. It is such a warm, intelligent, funny and emotional film with brilliant performances. I was so impressed by it that I saw it five times at the cinema and a lot more on DVD. If you want watch a film with a beautiful script and story plus a performance that is heartfelt and emotional, Ladybird is for you.
