This show appears to.be an attempt to remake Schitts Creek but in Hawaii and with a hint of Murder She Wrote. It fails on all accounts. The plot, such that it is, is tedious and rambling. The writing is mundane and the acting banal. These characters are neither interesting, complex, nor likeable. We are already confronted with spoiled, out of touch, white, and privileged upper class people on a daily basis in real life, in the news, and in other media and White Lotus adds nothing to the phenomenon. And congrats for developing a show set in Hawaii that relegates the local population to menial, underpaid servants roles. That takes a special sensitivity and understanding in 2021. The one person of color character with much of a role is, of course, a single mother. No stereotyping there! Perhaps something interesting or exciting happens in episode 4 but I stopped watching 3/4 of a way through episode 3.
