This is one of the best martial arts movies I've seen lately. I was impressed by the beautiful choreography and cinematography. This movie pays homage to the animated movie without being cheesy, and celebrates its namesake.
It is glorious without being bloody; it is graceful and symbolic. It was a joy to watch! The magic of the original is preserved in the grace and diligence of the heroine, but without all of the silliness.
I think it would be a fantastic intro into the martial arts genre for children! It is a more serious movie, but without being overly depressing or violent.
I loved it! (four and a half stars)
