When thinking about a game like this you have to options, you either love it or hate it. Some would find the unforgiving gunplay, the aggressive mobs, and the steep learning curve to be daunting. But to others that's why they play this game. Hunt Showdown has 3 main pillars of gameplay, sound, traversal, and shootouts. Its excellent OST and the thick atmosphere of the post civil war Louisiana bayou is awe inspiring with its twist on the battle royal style gameplay. This game drops up to 12 hunters in sets of 3,2 and solo and tasks them to travel the map, find a main boss, banishing them, and leaving with a bounty that is collected after. with the battle royal aspects coming from the fact that you are not the only person who want the bounty. The tools you have at your disposal are post civil war weaponry with a spin of the same dark atmosphere that this game revels in. The learning curve comes from how fragile you are, each shot takes ages to come out for most weapons, but with the type of guns they are using it makes since and by result they do damage, being able to drop most people with an average of 2 shots. Or by landing a headshot, you can drop them instantly as a result making most weapons viable in the game almost eliminating a meta outside the higher range of hunter matchmaking. Its most interesting mechanic is that when you make it out of the game with a bounty you earn massive amounts of xp for your hunter who has equipment that you have to buy, then you have to gamble on retiring your hunter for a big payout of exp or sending him back out to rick him dying, with a permadeath mechanic. if your hunter dies and doesn't get revived, set on fire for a period of time or get squad wiped, you loose your hunter permanently. with a maxed out hunter earning exp for your account to unlock more equipment. Hunt Showdown has a steep learning curve and is not for everyone. it is dark, unforgiving, and incredibly underrated. It does take a bit before it clicks but when it does you wont want to put it down. Especially when the devs are constantly updating with more hunters, weapons and bugfixes. I would recommend playing with a friend or two taking the time to do a bit of research looking up videos or streams of other hunters playing. This is a very slept on game
