*POSSIBLE SPOILERS BUT NOT REALLY READ AT YOUR OWN RISK SPOILERS AIN’T THAT BAD* I also tried to to reduce bias as little as possible and wrote what I was thinking while I was watching the movie thank you :) I felt honestly disappointed because it didn’t deliver that much as the first movie. It just felt like nothing was really going on. They made Peter seem like a douche and John Ambrose like the most wholesome and sweetest kid ever. After all that time spent making Peter petty as hell, it still came back to Peter which was kinda expected. I’d say both main characters were not really likable as much as the first movie. Their characters felt really flat and not much to it. Lucas still brought the same vibes which made me feel better about the film. Chris and Trevor didn’t really make sense because it wasn’t really called for, but they were still cute. Gen was fine. Her story about parents divorcing was okay, but it felt like the director just took the easy path so Gen would have more character. What scene I did like about Gen was the Jung thing with Lj and her in the treehouse. It was one of the best moments in the movie because that’s when Lara Jean picks up an understanding about Peter, Gen, and her. This definitely gave Gen a rounder character than the petty girl she was in the first movie. I think the director spent more time in the song choices, cute scenarios and places which I’d think wasn’t really necessary, and that just covered up the whole movie on not having a strong plot. The movie is still good and cute, just mediocre and could definitely have more potential. (Maybe cuz we gave so much hype to the first movie haha.) Oh yea, It also felt kinda rushed and more of a wattpad story. Id give it like a 68% just because it could’ve been so much better. Sorry for the grammar :) I also haven’t read the book but please take account it is from a non-reader perspective.
