Beautiful Story * Well Written Characters * Interesting World Mechanics * Inspiring Soundtracks *
In simple words, you play as a delivery boy delivering cargos in a collapsing world… it isn’t that simple, is it?
Brilliant world building mechanics. The game starts off like a walking simulator which becomes tiring after a point of time. Just about then, it allows you to build structures such as bridges and later road to travel in bike/truck. Similarly, when you are tired of travelling in bike/trucks for hours, the game introduces ziplines that allows you to carry cargo and fly to destination. Now, the game limits you from building too many structures however, the online feature allows you to use structures built by other players.
Opportunities:
Boss Battles could have been more complicated and difficult. In fact, there was nothing in this game that was challenging for me. I played in Normal difficulty and it felt like the Very Easy mode. I mean I didn't die at all in that 80 hour I spent. I should have played this game in higher difficulty which I didn't know when I started the game.
Bike physics was pathetic. When you could pull over, it just stops right there instantly no matter how fast you were going. As a matter of fact, the bike stops and drops when you pull over in air which I found was hilarious.
Kojima's direction and Mikkelsen's performance was ingenious in this game. All characters were well written and the actors' performed spectacularly.
I started understanding the story only after 50%-75% of the game. The story can be complicated and you will have absolutely no idea in the beginning but Kojima explains it brilliantly through the game especially in the end.
I would rate this game 5 (despite poor boss battles and bike performance) because of all these great features.
Quite frankly, I didn't have such high hopes for this game when it was launched. When I first saw the trailer, I thought it's lame and that nothing can convince me otherwise. Boy was I wrong. I just played this game now and I feel that I should have preordered it. It is simply a masterpiece!
