Lazy writing with very obvious turns. Unbelievable situations that constantly occur with protagonists making awful decisions that aren't believable and lead directly to major plot events. Feels like a show that is so thinly joined together it's very hard to keep watching.

One of the best books written of all time in my opinion. Really solid science throughout, no major and irritating plot holes, likeable and believable characters and a fascinating story line. It's near future technologies make it easily comprehensible, however Weir explains all systems flawlessly. Definitely worth the read.

I really wanted to like this but it's unexpectedly bad. Andy Weir has written some very good Sci-fi books but unfortunately this isn't one of them. Gaping flaws is the science, irrational protagonist thought flow, difficult to like characters, predictable plot line, huge plot holes. I felt Weir's genuine passion in the Martian but it's not there for this.
