I would have given it zero star if it wasn’t for two characters that I love! One star each for the Grandma and Mr. Han! The lead characters were lacking chemistry! I did not get attached to Nam Do San. I kept waiting to be moved by him and for his character to build up…but nothing. It stayed flat the whole time. On the other hand Mr.Han’s character had more depth and charisma. He comforted Dal Mi through the hardest times in her life and protected her throughout the series. He really did a great job pulling the viewers i. And connecting with him. Nam Do San only had a lie going for him and that’s supposed to be enough? He was insecure, has violent tendencies, and is very immature. I was unimpressed by him most of the time and my favorite scenes were with the grandma and Mr. Han. I seriously felt like I was watching a high school boy head over heels by a much more mature girl. They just didn’t match. There were also a lot of foreshadowing that we’re never fully addressed and left me scratching my head. I honestly thought that the scene about Dal Mi finding out about the letters was going to be explosive…but nope, it was like it never happened. She talked about it all the time with such significance and poof it means nothing all of a sudden. So disappointing. Seriously…what a poorly written drama. This is the first kdrama that I actually felt like I resented the main characters due to their lack of connection and still getting together in the end. It sucked!
