I've been interested in Woodstock 99 for a long time. I've always thought of it like the amazing disaster kinda like Fyre fest. Many snowflake reviewers can't handle criticism of angry white men. As a person who was an angry white kid in 1999 I found it interesting to know that it wasn't just me and my friends, that it was the zeitgeist. There is a lot there to unpack.
Basically, this was the nail in the coffin for a lot of awful bands. Nu Metal was not good, and very few people will say to this day that they actually like Limp Bizkit.
I think there is a place for this kind of show, and ICP has really ran with that with what they do in their Gathering. I think that danger and violence are fine if everyone knows what they are getting into.
The parts about Coachella are kinda weird, but I think the point was that the kind of scene that was Woodstock 99 died there. Nu Metal was over and so was that flavor of rock in general.
