It’s a classic case of making potent content into a Bollywood “1 size fit all” emotional drama. If Kabir Khan wanted to make an emotional blockbuster he should have attempted another Lagaan. If anything it’s a dishonest attempt to milk a watershed moment in Indian cricketing history into a Bollywood masala that could be enjoyed by everyone because emotions and nostalgia together would make it a hit regardless…as oppose to any directorial talent and honest storytelling. BTW I never understood the itch of directors to write dialogs for such movies as if Kapil paji really told Jr Amarnath “aaj apne baap ko dus saal chota kar de” I mean come on. The only silver lining was Ranveer”s amazing performance and in contrast the worst was Deepika’s casting. Anyway I understand we Indians are emotional but don’t use that to mitigate your insecurity and lack of confidence. Sometimes directors have to sit back and let the content do it’s job for instance look at “Moneyball” and you will know why I am critical of the film. I guess it’s a movie made with commercial and only commercial interest in mind and that’s why I call it a dishonest attempt because Kabir khan was not making movie that would become a hit he was trying to make a hit movie and trust me there is a big diff between the 2😧😧 all in all Kabir Khan lost a massive opportunity to tell the world what “83” really meant to we Indians
